Here is a little history that
I know about the sexy woman who came to the
limelight in the 1930's.
Betty Boop is an animated
cartoon character who was designed by Grim
Natwick.
She made her first
appearance in August of 1930 in the
cartoon Dizzy Dishes, which was
a Fleischer's Talkartoon series
cartoon.
.Betty Boop became a
fullfledged cartoon star by 1932 and
was given her own series in that same
year.
She also appeared in
a (1934) cartoon entitled 'Poor
Cinderella' which was the only cartoon
that was in color at that time.
Betty was accompanied by
a little dog named Pudgy who
appeared in many of the Betty Boop
cartoons.
She quickly became a sex
symbol by always wearing short dresses,
high heels and a garter belt which
was very risque for the 1930's time
period..
She was also a symbol of the
Depression era and a reminder of the
days of the Jazz Age.
Betty Boop is important to
animation history for being the first
cartoon character to fully represent a
sexual woman. She reveled in her sexuality
but was sexy with a touch of
innocence.
Betty Boop provided
glamour to a time where most people were
down on their luck. It didn't matter where
she was going or what she was doing, she
always looked perferct, even riding
her bike.
Betty Boop cartoons found
a new audience when Paramount Pictures
sold them for syndication in
1955.
When the rerelease of these
cartoons happened in the 1950's,
Betty become the decor inspiration
behind many retro style restaurants and
classic diners you still see today as well
become a sex symbol for the 50's.
Today Betty Boop's innocence
still dazzles her public and will for
years to come.
In fact, Betty Boop (well ok, a
look-a-like..lol)
recently greeted her most loyal
fans on her First Official Betty Boop Fan
Cruise.
Betty Boop has since risen
to a collectible character status and
people from all over the world now collect
Betty Boop apparel, Betty Boop acessories
and other Betty Boop items.
Betty Boop's most famous saying
is "Boop Boop Bedoop".
I'm adding new Betty Boop products everyday so
